Based in Colorado, Rocky Mountain Gun Owners is Colorado's largest state-based gun lobby. It is a group solely dedicated to the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.  Their strategy: Don't give an inch.  Their mission: Defend the right to keep and bear arms from all of its enemies, and advance those God-given rights by educating the people of Colorado and urging them to action in the public policy process.  RMGO also offers a private sale website as a marketplace for firearms sellers and purchasers alike.  They can be contacted toll-free at 1-888-874-3006. Their website is:

The National Association for Gun Rights (often referred to as NAGR) is the fastest growing gun rights group in America.  The National Association for Gun Rights is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, single-purpose citizens' organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the Constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms through an aggressive program designed to mobilize public opposition to anti-gun legislation. They can be contacted toll-free at 1-877-405-4570. Their website is:

Rather than blindly pursuing public opinion, RMGO uses a well-developed, comprehensive, no-compromise strategy for victory.  RMGO keeps you up-to-date on the Colorado Legislature and other assaults on your Second Amendment rights through our low-volume, no-spam email network.

RMGO is the only gun rights organization in Colorado with staff members, all dedicated to preserving your Second Amendment rights without compromise.  The staff at RMGO regularly defends your rights on local and national news programs, radio talk shows and through the print media.

RMGO is the state's only pro-gun PAC, which works to elect pro-gun candidates and hold politicians accountable.  RMGO will give you all the materials needed to have the maximum possible grassroots impact on our elected officials.

Our Concealed Carry Guide is your one-stop source for news about Colorado's concealed carry laws, regulations and important news.  We list plain English questions about Colorado's gun laws, with plain English answers.  This is the fastest growing and most visited portion of our website.  And, we'll work to change Colorado's laws, and regularly update you on laws that are changed.

While other institutional gun lobbies work to force gun owners to jump through hoops and hurdles for their self defense, RMGO sets a higher standard: the law should recognize law-abiding citizens' rights and not build databases to track gun owners. RMGO has forced lawmakers to recognize the true standard for concealed carry: the Vermont/Alaska law. Vermont—and more recently, Alaska—citizens are allowed to carry concealed firearms without a permit, avoiding the “big-brother-may-I” of a permit system.  Citizens who wish to carry in other states can still obtain a concealed weapons permit, but true self defense freedom should be our goal.

Rather than pass “good gun control” or work to compromise our rights to attain a “seat at the table,” RMGO forces politicians to take a stand, either with gun owners or against us. RMGO uses grassroots activism, rather than coddling politicians, to protect our constitutional rights.

Though nearly impossible to define, it is obvious that “assault weapons” are constitutionally protected under the Second Amendment, just as laser printers are protected under the First. Our founding fathers wrote the Second Amendment to protect weapons used by private citizens that are equivalent to the arms of a standing army's infantryman. Since the media has portrayed these firearms as evil, few politicians wish to be forced into actively standing up for your right to own a so-called “assault weapon”. RMGO is firmly committed to protecting your right to own these and other firearms—including .50-caliber rifles—and repealing laws which regulate and restrict their purchase and ownership.

NAGR was founded in 2001 as a 501(C)4 civil rights advocacy organization designed to educate gun owners about state and federal legislation that affects their gun rights. NAGR assists the growing movement of state-level grassroots gun rights organizations, as well as organizing grassroots lobbying on state and federal legislation.

Purpose: As an advocacy group, our purpose is to educate gun owners and gun rights’ supporters on gun rights issues both at the local and federal level.  To that end, on average we spend 88% of our annual budget on communications with gun owners and our members regarding the issues at hand; and during the 2010 year, that percentage has actually increased to 94%.

Our accomplishments: On the federal level, areas in which NAGR has led the charge include the fight against the UN Small Arms Treaty and the derailment of H.R.45 (which has largely been defeated due to the groundswell response from members).

On the local level, NAGR has assisted various grassroots state organizations in everything from helping form the group to professional and financial assistance. These groups include: Wyoming Gun Owners, Iowa Gun Owners, South Dakota Gun Owners, & New Hampshire Firearms Coalition, to name a few. Many of these groups are truly on the front lines when it comes to defending individual’s rights in their home states.

For example, the Wyoming Gun Owners group recently helped pass the “Firearms Freedom Act” and Iowa Gun Owners has been working diligently to get a true Concealed Carry law passed.

What makes NAGR different from other gun groups? There is an old adage that states “in the myriad of counselors” there is wisdom. At times people question: “Why another gun rights group?” We believe that what sets us apart from other national gun groups is our commitment to being a grassroots-oriented group. Our agenda is not dictated by a top-down mentality, rather it is dictated by what directly serves the interests of our hundreds of thousands of members — and that is the protection of their gun rights.
Passion: The National Association for Gun Rights is comprised of a small, dedicated staff of individuals whose experience in state-level legislative battles and campaigns makes them ideally suited to understand the political process. Our passion is to see our Legislators (both locally and nationally) upholding your 2nd Amendment rights, without compromise.

NAGR-PAC: NAGR-PAC is an affiliated PAC, as recognized by the Federal Election Commission. This enables us to directly support candidates that we believe have a solid pro-gun record.
